With a 7-0 dismantling of the North Shore Warriors, Pilot Mound Hockey Academy captured the 2025 CSSHL U17 Prep Division II Western Championship.
This is the second CSSHL Western Championship in program history having previously won the 2020 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship.
Pilot Mound (Pilot Mound, MB) came into the Western Championships as the five seed and finished third in Pool A at the conclusion of the Round Robin. They would knock off STAR Hockey Academy (Kent, WA) in the quarter-finals, setting up a game against the number one seed St. George’s School (Vancouver, BC) in the semi’s. They would fall behind 3-1 late in the game but rally back to force overtime where Collin Friedrich scored with 1.6 seconds left to send Pilot Mound to the finals.
North Shore (North Vancouver, BC) came into the Championships as the four seed and finished second in Pool A, beating Pilot Mound in the Round Robin. Victories against BWC Academy (Burnaby, BC) and Notre Dame (Wilcox, SK) in the quarters and semis sent them to the finals.
The finals were controlled from start to finish by Pilot Mound. Adam Zamecnik and Friedrich scored 1:36 apart midway through the first to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
It was more of the same from Pilot Mound in the second; an even strength goal from Luke Adam 24 seconds in, and a power play marker from defenseman Chadrick Schulz late in the period.
Jack Perrier started the third off with a goal 42 seconds in before Casey Silverman and Willem Kirk-Bertens put the game well out of reach late in the game.
Netminder Barrett Hayes (30/30) made 30 saves for a shutout in the finals.
